One stitch at a time.
We love to work with volunteers who generously give their time and talents to help in my mission.
Our work is two-fold.
On one side we stitch and create items for the babies in our NICUs. Beautiful blankets, sheets, burp cloths, outfits, positioning device covers, bags for supplies. You name it, we have probably made it.
On the other side

On the other side we stitch and create items that we sell to raise funds to cover the cost of our supplies. We're a crafty bunch and are always looking for creative ways to show off our talents. Our past projects include teacup pincushions, masks for adults and children, scrub caps, pot scrubbers, embroidered bags, teapot cosies, decorated needle threaders, frame weights for needlework, and soup bowl holders.
Even if you cannot sew there are lots of ways to help out by measuring and cutting fabric, gathering supplies, purchasing one of our items, or making a cash donation.
As a NICU nurse for almost 30 years I see first-hand how much NICU families appreciate all the hand-stitched items we use when caring for their sick and premature babies.

Having a baby in the NICU is such a stressful and scary time for families. Knowing that someone cares enough to give their precious time to stitch an item for a baby that they will never see is an incredible gift of love.
When families walk into the NICU and see a room filled with blankets and items made from beautiful soft fabrics and gorgeous colors it helps reduce the parents' level of anxiety and fear.
Our items also have practical value. Our isolette (incubator) covers are made from recycled nurses' scrubs and reduce the light and noise that enters the isolette. This allows the babies to sleep and grow which helps them leave the NICU sooner.
Our covers for positioning devices help reduce costs by allowing us to reuse and recycle the special mattresses, pillows, and pads that we use to keep our babies nested and safe.
We also provide specialty outfits and clothes so our families can spend precious time at the bedside with their babies instead of shopping for items that their baby may only wear once or twice.
What started out as a small project in our unit has grown into a lifelong mission to provide handmade items for sick and premature infants in Neonatal Intensive Care Units.
Your support and contributions will enable us to continue providing handmade items for sick and premature babies in the NICU.
